Rosanna R. Flach

Paxico- Rosanna R. Flach, 78, of Paxico, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Valley Vista Nursing Home in Wamego. She was born October 10, 1932 at Havensville the daughter of the late William and Lena Gunther Shields. Rosanna grew up in the Havensville community and graduated from Havensville High School in 1950. She always looked forward to attending the Alumni Banquet each year. She had lived in the Paxico community many years. Mrs. Flach had worked in food service at the local schools and at several different restaurants. Rosey was the Paxico reporter for several different local newspapers throughout the years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Newbury and the Altar Sodality at the church. She also was a member of the Silent Workers Club. On November 19, 1951 she was united in marriage to Walter Flach at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. They were the first couple to be married in the new church. He survives at the home. Mrs. Flach was preceded in death by two brothers Bill and Jerome Shields. Other survivors include her children Mary Jo (Harley Sr.) Cooke, Topeka, and their children, Harley Cooke Jr, twins Jennifer Cooke (her fiance John Lay) and Sharon Cooke (and her fiance Brian Stone), their children Ethan and Adrian Stone; Marsha (Jim) Seematter, Hoyt, their children, Amy (Chris Spencer), Jason and Shawn Seematter; Bill (Julia) Flach, Paxico, their children, Ann, Adam and Daniel Flach; Pat (Debbie) Flach, St. Maries, ID, their children Catherine and Garret Flach; Geralyn (Keith) Boyer, Wamego, their daughter, Alecia; a brother, Everett Shields, Pine Bluffs, WY; a sister Mary Ellen Ashby, Centralia, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newbury. Mrs. Flach will lie in state after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church where there will be a rosary at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
