Lucile Quigley

Lenexa- Lucile R. Quigley, 94, formerly of St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Lake View Village in Lenexa. She was born April 15, 1916 at Axtell the daughter of James Patrick and Ida Elizabeth Van Verth Murray. Mrs. Quigley was raised in the Axtell and St. Marys Communities. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy and attended Mount St. Scholastica College, and was the Junior Stomp Queen at St. Benedict College her junior year. Mrs. Quigley had lived in Kansas City many years and had worked for Sportservices as a novelty manager at the Kansas City Municipal Stadium when the Athletics and Chief’s played there. She later worked for H & R Block. Mrs. Quigley moved back to St. Marys in 1980 and then to Lenexa in 2003. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lenexa. She had served as a Cub Scout leader for many years. Mrs. Quigley had served in the Kansas Silver Hair Legislature and had been an active member of the St. Marys Senior Center. On January 28, 1938 she was united in marriage to Henry H. Quigley at Atchison. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1988 Survivors include her children, Marcia Ann Tuttle, Townsend, GA, Sue (Mark) McGartland, Anywhere, USA, Jean Letourneau, Wichita, Margaret Lucile (John) Utter, Shawnee, Henry Hermans Jr.(Margie) Quigley, Corpus Christi, TX, Ernest Patrick “Ernie” (Susan) Quigley, Laguna Beach, CA, Michael Raymond (Ana) Quigley, The Woodlands, TX, Robert John (Debbie) Quigley, Anaheim, CA, William Joseph (Trang) Quigley, Arlington, TX, George Walter Quigley, New Orleans, LA, Thomas Francis (Ann) Quigley, Bonner Springs, James Lawrence Quigley, Denver, CO, and Gerald Mark (Debbie) Quigley, Nixa, MO; a brother Raymond Patrick Murray, Monterey, CA; 30 grand children; 36 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church followed by visitation until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Senior Center and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
