Mr. David Herman Hund

Paxico- David Hund, 85, passed away Monday, February 21, 2011 at the St. Marys Manor. He was born May 21, 1925 at Paxico the son of Frank and Anna Meinhardt Hund. He graduated from Paxico High School in 1942. Mr. Hund had lived in the Paxico community all of his life where he was a farmer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Newbury, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1392 and Thomas McNeive 4th Degree Assembly. David had served many years on the Mill Creek Valley USD NO. 329 School Board, he was a member of the Kansas Poultry Association and the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. On April 19, 1952 he was united in marriage to Joann Siefert at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newbury. She preceded him in death on September 8, 1970. He later married Patricia M. Ebert on May 3, 1971 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Onaga. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2010. Survivors are his eleven children, Tim Hund (Cindy), Paxico, Mary Johnson (Matt), Topeka, Annette Hiegert (Doug), Paxico, Joe Hund (Connie), Paxico, Alan Hund, New York, NY, Teresa Wenderott (Jim), McPherson, Tom Hund (Dianne), St. Joseph, MO, Matt Hund (Marla), Quebec, Canada, Patrick Hund, Falls City, OR, Loran Hund, Wichita, Janet Hund (Opokuware), Long Beach, CA; Also surviving are Patricia’s children, Barbara Turner (Dwight), Waverly, TN, Bill Ebert (Trisha), Redmond, WA, Bernard Ebert (Patty), Topeka, Ralph Ebert (Maureen), Yuma, CO, Louise Carlin (Chris), Council Grove, Jerry Ebert (Barbara), Topeka, Eddie Ebert (Sue), Wamego, Hal Ebert (Marguerite), Redmond, WA, Kevin Ebert, Carrolton, TX, Shawn Ebert (Angel), Paxico, Maureen Adams (Chris), Council Grove, and Greg Ebert (Lisa), Kinsley; 70 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 25, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newbury. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Hund will lie in state from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the church where there will be a rosary recited at 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Hall Building Fund or to the Carmel of Jesus Mary and Joseph and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
